2016 Artist Alley Art Compilation
Some artworks and photos of my Artist Alley tables in 2016. This was my final year trading my art at fan pop culture conventions as I ultimately decided by the end of it that I was not earning enough from them to be worth continuing further. I traded at the same three conventions as 2015, all located in Melbourne. The amount of new art I made in 2016 was a lot less compared to past years, but here they are anyway.

Tatsumaki from the anime “One Punch Man”.

Shigeo Kageyama (Mob) from the anime “Mob Psycho 100”.
Hetalia Chibis
There is my complete set of Hetalia chibi character designs and bookmarks that I started creating in 2014 and finished (or rather stopped working on them) in 2016. These were some of my best selling artworks during my time selling my art at artist alleys. (。^‿^。)
[1] Axis characters: N.Italy, Germany, Japan, S.Italy, Prussia & Spain. [2] Allies characters: America, England, France, Canada, China & Russia. [3] Nordic characters: Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Finland & Sweden.
All of the above fanart and the newer chibi illustrations were created using Clip Studio Paint with a Wacom tablet and post-processed in Adobe Photoshop. They were also originally posted on DeviantArt and eventually I took them down.

My Artist Alley Tables

Supanova Pop Culture Expo – Apr 2016
My first artist alley table for 2016. I found that some of my larger prints weren’t selling as well as my other stuff, so I tried getting rid of my excess via a lucky dip. It actually worked out! (~‾⌣‾)~

Animaga Expo – Aug 2016
My second artist alley table of the year. A small achievement, I was able to cover my back wall and make it look decently full for the first time since I started convention trading.

AMC Expo Melbourne – Oct 2016
This was my final artist alley table for the year and also my last time trading my art at pop culture fan conventions.
I gained a lot of practical experience from this little side hustle of mine that started in late 2012 until 2016, mainly how to run a small art business, manage stock and business bookkeeping. But the biggest lesson I learnt was understanding the market and what is in demand.
Unfortunately, I ran into a problem were my interests and the interests of the market were not in alignment. I was not very motivated to draw what was popular at these fan conventions and my business kind of suffered for it. I saw plenty of other artists, who were more willing to draw the popular stuff, receive much better business than I did, and that was just how it was. ┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌
Since I’ve realised that this path wasn’t for me, I decided to turn to searching and exploring for MY form of creative expression that I enjoy and would dedicate the majority of my time on.

Extras

Early fanart concepts intended for trading. Due to time restrains, not all of them made it to final production though. <(_ _)>
