2013 Artist Alley Art Compilation

After graduating from my animation course, I decided that animation wasn’t really for me, or rather I didn’t want to pursue it professionally anymore. Instead, I decided to go the direction of trying to make a business out of my hobby for drawing anime-style art and it took a serious turn to drawing more fanart for conventions in 2013.

I went to four different anime and pop-culture conventions held in Melbourne and had an artist alley table at all of them. Three out of the four tables, I shared a table with another artist. Here are some of the artworks I sold during these conventions.

Art print of Amaterasu and Issun from the Capcom game called “Ōkami”.

Art prints of Alibaba Saluja, Morgiana and Aladdin from the anime “Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic”.

Chibi bookmarks of characters Aladdin, Alibaba, Morgiana, and one more character Judar.

Art prints of Taiga Kagami, Ryōta Kise and Tetsuya Kuroko from the anime “Kuroko no Basuke”.

Chibi bookmarks of characters Kuroko, Kagami, Kise, and one more character Daiki Aomine.

Art prints of China & Chibi Japan, N.Italy & S.Italy, and Russia from the webcomic “Axis Powers Hetalia”.

Several of the above illustrations were created using PaintTool SAI, a drawing software that I used often in 2013 because it worked better with my wacom tablet, and some were created using Adobe Photoshop.

Chibi pencil drawings of Ruby, Weiss, Blake & Yang from the web series “RWBY”.

All of the above fanart illustrations were originally posted on DeviantArt and I eventually took them down later.

My Artist Alley Tables

Anime Traders Convention (@Con) – Feb 2013

My first Artist Alley table of 2013, where I was also sharing the table with the artist aussie-dragon from DeviantArt. It was a one-day event and quite a small market compared to the other conventions I attended later in the year.

Supanova Pop Culture Expo – Apr 2013

My second Artist Alley table of 2013, where I was also sharing the table with the artist OzenkaLily from DeviantArt. It was also my first large convention of the year and met many different artists and cosplayers.

Melbourne Anime Festival (Manifest) – Aug 2013

My third Artist Alley table of 2013, and my second and final time trading at this particular convention, as the organisers were unable to continue organising future events after 2013. This was the only convention of the year that I had the whole table to myself and had a friend help me with my table.

Armageddon Expo – Oct 2013

My final Artist Alley table of 2013, where I was also sharing the table with the artist Enixyy from DeviantArt. By this time, I had more artworks to sell but still didn’t have as many as some other artists at these large conventions.

I felt, at the time, that my overall experience trading at artist alleys in 2013 was quite fun and I enjoyed meeting new artists and fans of anime. I didn’t make a lot of money from it, but I didn’t want to stop yet and continued trading my art into the next year.
