Part 1

The Set-up: Rescha was the daughter of a fisherman. They both regularly go out into the sea to catch fish. One day, she had a dream that she was swimming in the sea with half of her body in the shape of a fish tail. She woke up and wondered about her strange dream, but was interrupted when her father told her that they were going out fishing. Rescha often went out fishing with her father because she enjoyed helping him with his work.

Call to Action: When they both set out, the ocean was calm, which made it easier to work. They had managed to get a good catch too. But too swiftly the weather changed and a storm started brewing. Waves crashed onto their boat and capsized it, making the two fall into the sea along with their catch.

Call Refusal: Luckily, the two were good swimmers, but the first thing that came to Rescha’s mind was to save her father. Flipping the boat back up right, she prioritised getting her father back up on the boat first. Once her father was safely back on the boat, he tried to help her up too but waves once again crashed into the boat and the two were separated. Rescha struggled in the water, but she thought, as long as her father was safe, that was all that mattered.

No Return: God of the Sea, Poseidon happened to witness Rescha’s selfless act and decided that he liked her. To save her, the god merged her with a large fish named Aphros, and instantly the lower half of her body turned into a fish tail. Rescha also found that she no longer had trouble breathing in the water. The Sea God told her that she was now one with the sea, but she can no longer return back on land. She could not go back to being with her father.

1st Struggle: Rescha felt incredibly upset at her predicament, but Poseidon told her that she was now bound to the sea by his magic so she must accept his domain as her new home. He told her that she should be grateful that he saved her from drowning. She felt conflicted; she was grateful that she could still live, but at the cost of abandoning her father and never to return home? Rescha was allowed by the Sea God to live and explore the sea as she wished, so she spent a lot of her time near the surface, hoping to see her father again, but she never did.

Commitment: She never found out what happened to her father after they separated. She did see other fishermen though, and out of a sense of duty, she would help and rescue anyone who fell into the sea. This got mixed reactions from the fishermen however; some were grateful, some were scared from her fishy appearance, some thought she was the one who caused their boat to capsize and would try to attack her. Regardless of the reaction though, Rescha would still try to help them as best as she could.

Part 2

2nd Struggle: Poseidon frowns every time he saw her a little more ragged than before. The beautiful fins of Aphros who he merged her with were now more weary and torn. Rescha never came to the Sea God about it either, so he could tell she wasn’t taking care of herself. When he approached her about it, she simply told him that she got roughed up from saving the fishermen on the surface but she was fine. Poseidon decided that she needed supervision, so he asked another larger fish to stay by her side and watch her. Thus, Rescha was introduced to Bythos, sibling of Aphros.

Crisis: From then on, Bythos followed Rescha to the surface and kept her from being too reckless. For awhile it seemed to work until one day, the two came across a sinking warship in a battle. Men feel into the sea and some were drowning, it was a horrible sight. Bythos told her that the area was too dangerous, but Rescha didn’t care and begged the fish to help her save the drowning men. Bythos reluctantly agreed as long as a rope was attached to both their tails so that they remained together. Learning from her past interactions, Rescha changed herself fully into a fish after tying the rope, and the both of them worked together to rescue the drowning men.

Climax: Using the rope attached to their tails, they managed to drag all the men that they could hold to the nearest shore. They had to make a few trips back and forth, but were able to save most of the survivors. The sea battle still raged on however; arrows and spears were sent flying through the air and most fall into the ocean, making it very dangerous for the two fish to be near the surface. But Rescha still wanted to continue until suddenly, a soaring spear dived into the water and by chance stabbed into Bythos. Rescha was shocked and then devastated, she didn’t mean for the other fish to get hurt, but she instantly knew it was her fault that it happened. Turning back into a mermaid form, she finally abandoned her rescue mission and took Bythos back to Poseidon.

Aftermath: As soon as she found the Sea God, Rescha explained what happened and wept, apologising for getting Bythos killed in her rescue mission; apologising that she was inconsiderate to the fish’s warning and caused his death. She then asked the Sea God if there was any possible way to bring back Bythos. Seeing that she had learnt her lesson on reckless selflessness, Poseidon told her that the only way to save Bythos was to merge the fish with another life so that two would share a life. Rescha quickly volunteered herself, but the Sea God had another idea. Merging Bythos with Rescha, who was already merged with Aphros, created a woman with three consciousness in one. Two fish, Aphros and Bythos, and Rescha, the bind that ties the two together. Poseidon decided to named them the personification of Pisces, and gave them a place amongst the stars.

Part 1

The Set-up: Melik was a beautiful slave who’s duty was to be a cup bearer and serve wine for his king, King Athamas of Orchomenus, and other royalties. One day, the king of Larymna from Opuntian Locris visited Orchomenus in Boeotia, and dined with the Boeotian King. The visiting king had come for the golden fleece that had been promised to him, but since the ram was stolen, the host king threw a feast instead. Melik was naturally tasked to serve the wine to all royalties at the occasion.

Call to Action: Seeing the cup bearer’s beauty despite being male, the king of Larymna was captivated and wanted the young man for himself. The visiting king told the host king that since he didn’t have the promised golden fleece, he was fine to settle for his beautiful cup bearer instead. Hearing this, King Athamas was very relieved, he had felt embarrassed that he could not fulfil his promise, but since the other king seems happy to overlook it for something else than he would give whatever the other wanted.

Call Refusal: Melik wasn’t particularly pleased with this arrangement, since he had heard that the king of Larymna was known for being a tyrant that lived too lavishly, but he could do nothing about it and had to accept being given away. The visiting king looked very pleased when his request had been so readily accepted and happily continued on with the feast for the rest of the day.

No Return: Once the king of Larymna was ready to return back to his city, he made sure to have Melik by his side to serve him wine on the way back. Melik now truly had to come to terms with the fact that he had not only changed ownerships but will be moving to a different city as well. The journey was long and tiring, but Melik was at least grateful that he was allowed to rid a donkey, the king rode a horse while most of the other people who travelled with him moved on foot.

1st Struggle: Once they made it to Larymna in Opuntian Locris, Melik was introduced as the king’s new cup bearer, where he was given a golden water jug to assert his status. His duties still remained the same, expect now he serves the royalties of Larymna. The rumours he heard seemed to be true, the king really did live quite luxuriously—compared to his old king—and even makes a show of it, with decorations everywhere and his palace sitting high on the edge of a cliff. It made the disparity between the king and his citizens’ lives even more apparent. Melik saw many children who looked underfed that made him feel sorry for them.

Commitment: Regardless, Melik dutifully did his job without complaints, until one day he caught wind of an assassination plot against the king. The royal adviser and the king’s son were planning to dust the king’s wine cup with a poisonous powder that will dissolve in wine, so that the king will be poisoned when he drinks from his cup, but the cup bearer would be safe when he tests the wine. Then once the king dies, the assassination can be blamed on the new cup bearer slave from the neighbour kingdom, and the king’s son will be able to ascend to the throne and have all the city’s wealth for himself. Melik, hearing this plot, was shocked.

Part 2

2nd Struggle: The realisation of his situation made Melik feel sick. More than that, he realised that even with the king and his own death, the people in the city wasn’t in any better hands under the king’s son. Melik mourned, not for his own incoming death because his life wasn’t important, but for the people that had to continuously lived under such tyrant rule. In despair, he prayed to the heavens, to any God listening, he prayed that the people of Larymna would be free of their greedy kings. He even poured out all the wine in his water jug on the earth as an offering, though he had no idea if it was an acceptable offering.

Crisis: It had started raining that day after he gave his offering and had not stopped since. Nobody paid it any mind since it was not unusual for this time of the year for the city, and life went on as normal. A few days later, the king had a party arranged for all nobles and royalties, and as usual Melik was to serve everyone. He knew that the king’s cup was poisoned, so after the king had taken a drink from his cup, Melik snatched it away, saying he had forgotten to test the wine before serving and drank directly from the king’s cup. It was a huge offence, nobody but the king drinks from that cup, but he didn’t care since now he was going to die anyway. He would rather die of his own will than die falsely accused.

Climax: The king was furious, and ordered guards to take Melik away. He liked his cup bearer enough to not punish him in front of his party guests, but he won’t leave him unpunished entirely. The guards dragged the cup bearer out into the rain that had become a strong storm. Melik laughed and told the guards that they should go back to the king because the wine they both drank from was poisoned. This made the guard freeze and rushed back into the party hall, leaving Melik out in the harsh weather. The poison was beginning to act and Melik’s head began pounding heavily and his body growing weak, but he didn’t miss it when suddenly there was a large rumble and the earth under the party hall crumbled and sunk. The party hall was located directly on the edge of the cliff and it suddenly broke off from the heavy rain, taking the entire building with it, along with all the royalty and nobles inside.

Aftermath: It was a catastrophe, in one night the entire royal family and many greedy rich nobles died from the disaster. Melik also died, but only from the poison he ingested. His soul was taken by Zeus before he could go to the underworld. The great god had been very touched by Melik’s compassion for the people of Larymna and felt it needed to be acknowledged. Zeus told him that the Sky God, Ouranos, had also been touched by his prayer and was actually the one who created the storm that caused the disaster. Divine retribution; from this disaster the people were free of tyrant rule and could rebuild themselves for the better. For Melik, Zeus made him—with his water jug—the personification of Aquarius, giving him a place amongst the stars.

Part 1

The Set-up: Kastra became King of Miletus—a city in the Ionia region, after the death of his father. In a short period of time, he had established himself as a strict king who managed the city’s order and resources with a tight fist. He was an incredibly hardworking king, but nobody knows this as he rarely showed himself in public and his citizens found him unapproachable. They thought him too strict and unkind, so most people didn’t think too highly of him.

Call to Action: Kastra’s younger brother, who was far more likable and approachable to the citizens, also didn’t like the way Kastra ruled the city. So he thought of a way to overthrow his brother by using his supporters to start bad rumours about the king to start a revolt. Coincidently, yearly crop harvests were lower than usual. It wasn’t a big issue, but the people decided to use that as well as their dislike for the king as their reason to make him step down.

Call Refusal: Kastra didn’t particularly care if people liked him or not, but being blamed for the lower crop harvest made him feel both frustrated because there was nothing he could do about it, but at the same time like he had failed as a king. When the revolt happened, it was only then that Kastra realised how disliked he was by his people. He realised that even with all his hard work he did for them, if the people didn’t like him, he would not be accepted as king. So he relented, stepping down from his position and giving the crown to his younger brother to take his place.

No Return: After stepping down, Kastra could not show his face, and with some few belongings and supplies, he fled the city he once ruled and left behind everything that he had worked so hard on. His brother said it wasn’t necessary, but Kastra felt doing so was for the best. It was one of the hardest thing he has had to do since his crowning. He travelled for few days and nights and past a couple of other cities before he finally stopped and rested at the base of Corycus mountain. He had put as much distance between him and Miletus as his supplies would allow him, but now he was truly alone and left with nothing.

1st Struggle: Kastra was not a hunter, he did not have the skills to survive in the wild, so his only option was a paying job that would allow him to buy his survival. On Corycus, he found a goat herder and asked the man for a job. But the herder looked at his dirty clothes from many days of travel and took pity on him, deciding to take Kastra in and gave him shelter in one of his stables. Kastra was grateful to the herder and assisted the man in his goat herding.

Commitment: The goat herder became his mentor; aside from herding, he also showed Kastra how to make goat products and sell them at the nearby city of Erythrae. Once a year, the city would hold a festival called ‘The Kronia’ in honour of Cronus, the Father of Harvest, who would bless the land for yearly good harvest. Kastra found out that his mentor was also a priest, who was responsible for conducting the ritual of sacrificing a goat for Cronus to start off the festival. It was all so fascinating to him. Once a king and now a goat herder, Kastra found that he oddly didn’t mind it. It felt like a huge weight had left his shoulders, he no longer had to be responsible for an entire city and now here, nobody had any expectations of him. He was just a simple goat herder, and for the next few years that was how his life was.

Part 2

2nd Struggle: Three years have past since he became a goat herder and Kastra was content with his current life. However, lately he had been hearing rumours of how Miletus had recently fallen into famine. While he had left his city, Kastra still held feelings for his old home and also wondered how his brother was fairing as king. The rumours of famine at his home city made him feel bad, so he made a decision. With money saved up since he started the job, Kastra went to his mentor who had cared for him all this time and asked to buy several goats off his herd. The man happily sold him the goats. The two parted ways on good feelings, then he left and brought all his goats with him back to the city of Miletus.

Crisis: After several days of travelling, Kastra arrived back at his home where he found the city in a worst state than when he had left it. He went to visit his brother and also found him is a similar depressive state. His brother upon seeing him, felt ashamed that he had not been able to maintain the city in the way Kastra had. After he left, the crop harvest continued to decrease yearly, to the point that they were now officially in famine. His brother thought that Kastra only came back to humiliate him for his failings as a king, but Kastra told him it was not the case. He loved the city and wanted to help it in any way he can. So he suggested a solution to his brother.

Climax: It was announced to the people of Miletus, that the king had decided to hold a festival and will be doing a public sacrifice to the Father of Harvest, Cronus to bring back the good harvest. At this announcement from their king, the people began to see some hope. So preparations were made and on the day of the festival, Kastra appeared for the public sacrifice. People were in disbelief that the dethroned king was the one doing the ritual. Having watched his old mentor do it a few times, Kastra knew what to do, he said a prayer to Cronus and ask that he accept the goat as an offering for a year of good harvest. Cronus sees the ritual and accepts the offer, the god blessed the land and miraculously crops and plants began to flourish. The people saw this and were amazed and cheered for Kastra. The rest of the day was spend celebrating the festival, where rich and poor, citizens and slaves alike were allowed to party as if everyone were equals. From then on, the Kronia became a yearly festival that continued the good harvest for the city.

Aftermath: Seeing how the people of Miletus has finally accepted Kastra, his younger brother asked if he wanted to take back the crown as king, since the brother no longer felt like he deserved the position. Kastra kindly refused and told him that the people loved him very much as king, since despite the famine the people still didn’t lose faith in him enough to dethrone him. As long as he continued to serve his people as a king should, then there was no need to change crowns again. Kastra, deciding that his job was done, took his leave from the city once again with his herd of goats. Zeus, who had been watching the events unfold, appeared before him. The god was very impressed with Kastra’s disciplined and practical nature, as well as touched by his self-sacrifice. Being able to impress Zeus’ father Cronus was also noteworthy, so the god decided to merge Kastra with the best goat in his herd—creating a man with goat horns—and named him the personification of Capricorn, giving him a place amongst the stars.

Part 1

The Set-up: Ascella was a huntress who lived alone in a secluded area in Crete. She was someone who survived on foraging and the animals she hunted with her bow and arrow. For the most part, this was how she lived for most of her life, though she had at times wondered and was curious about the world outside and the people out there. But because she had no idea what was out there, she did not have the courage to leave the comfort of her home.

Call to Action: One day as Ascella was out hunting, she had accidentally shot her arrow at a large golden eagle that came out of nowhere. Her arrow had went through the eagle’s wing and caused the creature to fall. By the time she found it, the eagle was unconscious and wounded, but still alive.

Call Refusal: Normally, Ascella only hunted when she needed to eat, but her accidentally shooting at something she had no intention of catching, she felt sorry for it and had to rush the eagle back to her place to tend to it’s wound. Once done, the eagle woke up not long after and saw that it’s wounded wing had been bandaged.

No Return: The eagle thanked Ascella. She was shocked that it could speak. The eagle introduced itself as Aetos Dios, the Eagle of Zeus. Once again, she was shocked, and deeply apologised for causing harm to it’s wing. But the eagle was reasonable and disagreed that she was at fault, because Aetos Dios had been the one who interrupted her arrow from catching her true prey and got himself wounded.

1st Struggle: To thank her for looking after him and in compensation of taking her meal from her, Aetos Dios told her stories about the outside world and about his master Zeus. Ascella was fascinated by the eagle’s stories and until the wound was healed after several days, she had learnt many things about what was out there beyond the area she lived in.

Commitment: On the day the eagle’s wing was healed enough to take flight again, the two parted ways with good feelings. Ascella’s encounter with Aetos Dios had inspired her to explore the outside world, and so she decided to pack some essentials along with her bow and arrows, and left her home for adventure.

Part 2

2nd Struggle: For the next few years, Ascella travelled and visited many places and met various people in Greece. What she observed was that while the outside world was indeed a very beautiful place, she also discovered that the people who lived in the outside world were not so much. War, death, fame, cruelty, shrewdness; she saw many of those things and felt disappointed in what she saw. Particularly, she hated people who hunted animals for sport.

Crisis: One day she caught wind of a group of hunters who were searching for a large eagle that had been spotted on a nearby mountain. Fearing for the eagle’s life, Ascella also searched for the eagle in hope that she could protect it from it’s fated demise. After some time of searching, she found the large eagle perched on top of a rock and quickly went to warn it of pursuers.

Climax: Unfortunately, the other hunters also happened to spot the eagle and fired an arrow it hoping to catch it. As an expert hunter herself, Ascella heard the sound of the arrow in flight and jumped into it’s trajectory to save the eagle. The arrow stabbed into her upper back and she fell. Startled but safe, the eagle flew away, and the hunters left in disappointment, unaware that the arrow had hit something else.

Aftermath: Ascella died to the arrow wound. The eagle in fact was actually Zeus, the King of Gods in disguise. He had seen her bravery by taking the arrow for him. Zeus was also aware that she was the one who nursed Aetos Dios back to health, such kindness had touched him deeply. So he decided to revive Ascella, and made her with her bow and arrows as the personification of Sagittarius, giving her a place amongst the stars.

Part 1

The Set-up: Antares was a Spartan warrior who was recruited and fought in a war for his country. The dispute was something between Hellas and a neighbouring country, but he didn’t really know nor cared why. Antares was a young man who enjoyed fighting, so he was very pleased with the idea that he would get to participate in a war.

Call to Action: One day as he was fighting on the front lines, Antares accidentally stepped on a scorpion. The scorpion fought back by climbing up his foot, attaching itself onto his lower leg and jabbed in it’s stinger. The pain from the sting distracted Antares from the fight and was promptly stabbed in the chest. His death was slow and painful, both from the wound and from the sting, eventually he died on the field.

Call Refusal: As all souls go to the underworld after death, that was where Antares found himself after he finally died. The scorpion that strung him had also followed him along, still attached to his leg in his ghost form and refused to be moved. When it was his time for judgement in front of the God of the Underworld, Hades, the God noticed the oddity as well. Amused, the God decided that if the two souls could not be parted then he would merge the two together. So he did and Antares was transformed into a man who had a poisonous stinger for hair and the speed and fighter instincts of the scorpion.

No Return: Then Hades told Antares that he must now work for him in his underworld palace. Antares was confused why he couldn’t just move on into the afterlife, but was told that he was bound by Hades’ magic. So he had no choice but to now follow the command of his new ‘king’. That meant doing whatever the underworld God told him to do; thus he was given the job of guiding souls in the underworld to their allocated destination.

1st Struggle: In his time spent working in the underworld palace, he learnt a lot about the place and how it runs and functions. He realised that Hades kept his domain organised and everything served a purpose. He guided many souls and saw many different people from all walks of life. He sometimes saw a God come and go as well. At first he wasn’t sure how he felt about the place but since he was pretty much stuck here, he could only accept it. While he tolerated his job, he didn’t particularly like it, he still had his old warrior soul that cried for battle, his current job just didn’t satisfy him.

Commitment: Eventually, he confronted Hades and demanded that he be given a different task, preferably something that allowed him to fight on occasion because he was dying for a good fight. Hades thought about it and relented, apparently the Hunting Goddess, Artemis, had came to him asking for something or someone to help her kill the giant huntsman Orion, who had greatly offended her. Hades asked Antares if he would be satisfied taking the task of assassinating the huntsman, and he agreed with much enthusiasm.

Part 2

2nd Struggle: With Hades’ permission, Antares was finally allowed out of the Underworld and was sent to the Goddess Artemis. The Goddess was pleased with him and could tell that he was the warrior she needed to take down Orion. Currently, the giant huntsman was hunting in Crete and was talking about exterminating every creature on earth. Angered, the Goddess immediately sent Antares to Orion to do his assigned task, and he couldn’t be happier.

Crisis: As soon as Antares saw his target, he attacked with all the ferocity of his pent up lust for battle. Using all his assets, from fighter reflexes to his stinger. The giant huntsman was startled by him and fought back hard as well, but when Orion saw how deadly his attacker was he also tried his best to run and get away. But it was useless, Antares was driven, dead set on his task and would not let the giant get away, chasing him down wherever he fled to.

Climax: After much back and forth and chasing around, eventually Antares managed to land his stinger on Orion and poisoned the giant. When he finally succeed in killing the huntsman, Antares felt the greatest relief he had ever felt since his death. He finally got to experience battle again and the rush and thrill of it eventually settled and Antares could finally become calm.

Aftermath: The battle between Orion and Antares was so intense that it got even the King of Gods, Zeus excited. Appearing in front of Antares, the great God awarded him for his performance by giving him a place among the stars. From then on, he became known and honoured as the personification of Scorpio. But he wasn’t the only one, Zeus after being persuaded by Artemis, also put Orion up amongst the stars as well. The huntsman got lucky that Zeus felt pity for him and placed him far away where the scorpion could not reach him.

Part 1

The Set-up: After a full year being exiled from Attica, both Zaniah and Zubene were finally legally allowed back into the region. Over the year, they had managed to grow their crop business in Boeotia back to how it was before they were accused in Athens. Now, the sisters could go back home whenever they wanted to. If they wanted to.

Call to Action: One day, Zubene heard rumours that some traders and merchants were being forced to leave Athens recently and this got her curious. Zaniah was happy keeping the business in Boeotia, but Zubene felt that she wanted to go back to Athens to check how things are at the market. After a bit of discussion between the two, Zaniah agreed to move back to Athens if Zubene assessed that everything was fine and the market still strong. While Zubene is away, Zaniah would stay to continue business until she receives a message bird giving her the go ahead.

Call Refusal: The next day, Zubene sets off on her own with a horse, some weighing scales and supplies towards Athens. While she told her sister that all she’ll be doing is checking on the market, in reality she was also investigating the rumours about merchants being forced to leave. Having been forced out herself, Zubene had a feeling that the situation was too familiar and suspected that something unjust was happening in Athens. Whatever it was, she wanted to get to the bottom of it.

No Return: After a day of travelling, Zubene arrived in Athens. It had not changed much in the year that she was away, so it wasn’t difficult for her to navigate around. Checking out the marketplace, she saw that it was thriving just as she had remembered it. She noticed that there were not many traders selling crops with the exception of one large stall that most people were buying from. To her surprise, she recognised the vendor of that crop stall as the same man who accused her and her sister’s stall and had them exiled. It was then that Zubene realised, both her and her sister might really have been framed last year. The man may have wanted to monopolised the crop market. She decided that she would bring the man to justice.

1st Struggle: From a distance, she watched the con-man to see how he runs his business. There were a couple of other people helping him at the stall and eventually someone took over as sales and the man left his stall to wonder around the marketplace. Zubene followed him from a distance to see where he would go and found that he would check out the other crop traders in the market, sometimes buying a thing or two from them. Then the con-man went back to his stall with his purchase. The entire time, Zubene watched and grew very suspicious, but couldn’t find any good evidence against him.

Commitment: The next day, Zubene went back to watching the con-man and saw him openly chastise a stall’s product and endorsing his product as better to the customers. He was so loud about it, he even managed to get a crowd forming and watching him. The man didn’t care and continued to tell the customer and the crowd that this stall’s products were no good, and that his products were fresher and more beautiful. Zubene heard a secret conversation in the crowd that the con-man had been acting this way for the last couple of months and have managed to bankrupt many crop businesses by taking away their customers. Seeing this Zubene finally saw a way to get back at the con-man. That night, she sent a message bird to Zaniah to let her know the market was fine, and that she should come back to Athens as soon as she got the message.

Part 2

2nd Struggle: It would take Zaniah a couple of days to bring all their stocks from Boeotia back to Athens, so Zubene took this time to prepare what she needed to bring justice to the con-man. Giving an offering to Aphrodite, the Goddess of Beauty, she took a pomegranate out from her supplies and asked the Goddess to make the fruit the most beautiful red, freshest and tastiest pomegranate in all of Greece. Amused, the Goddess accepted the offering and blessed the presented fruit to be as Zubene wished. Now she was ready for the next stage.

Crisis: The next day, Zubene disguised herself and approached the con-man at his stall and asked him if the rumours were true that his stall sold the best crops in Athens. The man obviously answered positive, so she proceeded to show him the beautiful red pomegranate from her bag that she told him she got from her garden. She said loudly that she was looking for more pomegranate just like the one in her hand, so the man proceeded to weigh each of his to match her pomegranate to find ones of similar weight. Around seven matched the weight of her fruit, but she complained that none of the seven looked as beautiful as the one she had, commenting out loud that it seemed the rumours about his stall were false.

Climax: A crowd started to form at their commotion and the con-man started to grow nervous. He said that his fruits may not look as beautiful as hers, but they were definitely as fresh or even fresher. So Zubene cut open her pomegranate to show him how fresh it was inside. She said that she will buy any of his that were as fresh or even fresher than her one if he could prove it. So the man proceeded to cut open all seven of the chosen fruits and still none of them looked as fresh or fresher as the one she had. This time even the crowd were snickering, realising that the man’s stall didn’t live up to his claim, his crop were neither beautiful or fresh. The man was left humiliated.

Aftermath: After the commotion Zubene caused, a new rumour spread and the con-man’s stall dropped drastically in sales. Lasting for the next couple of days until eventually the man gave up and left the Athenian marketplace for good. Zubene was pleased that she brought justice to the con-man, and not long later, Zaniah arrived in Athens with all their stocks. The sisters’ business from then on went smoothly and prospered well. One day, Zeus appeared before the sisters saying that he had watched them over come various obstacles for their business and was very impressed by their passion and intelligence. The God decided to make each sisters a celestial star; Zaniah with her crops become the personification of Virgo and Zubene with her weighing scales become the personification of Libra. Both sisters got to still be together however, because they were placed near each other in the sky.

Part 1

The Set-up: Zaniah and Zubene are two sisters running a travelling stall in the Athenian marketplace selling crops. Many people come to their stall to buy fruits and vegetables imported from neighbour countries. The older sister, Zaniah manages their stock and supplies, while younger sister, Zubene deals with people and sales. While their main base was in the city of Athens, the two also travelled around the Attica Region for their supplies and other sales as well.

Call to Action: One day, while the two were going about their usual business in the usual marketplace, a man came up to their store and claimed that their crops were rotten and caused him and his family to feel ill after eating them. He accused them of selling bad products and told the crowd around them to not buy from them.

Call Refusal: Zaniah was shocked, but Zubene approached the man and says that she has never seen him before and was probably accusing the wrong stall. But the man confirmed that it was them and produced a bag that was unique to their store as proof. The man then claims that he will sue the sisters and arranged a court hearing, setting up a date and time in front of the main hall so that all parties are aware of this meeting. Now both Zaniah and Zubene had no choice but to attend the meeting and prove themselves innocent.

No Return: Before the day of the court hearing, Zaniah checked through all their stocks for rotten crops. It wasn’t unusual for crops to go bad, but she was sure that she had checked every one that goes on display at the start of the day and made sure they were all decent. To be accused of selling rotten food was both devastating and ridiculous. They did not have much in their defence to prove that it wasn’t their crops that made the man and his family sick.

1st Struggle: On the day of the court hearing, the judge and several juries were there along with the two defending parties. The sisters both tried to plead their case, but evidence against them were more prominent and the jury ultimately sided with the man. For their crime of selling rotten food, the judge punished both sisters with a fine and also exiled them for a year from Athens and the Attica Region.

Commitment: Both sisters were in disbelief that they were exiled from their home in Athens. Zubene was convinced that they have been framed and wrongly accused. Zaniah was the most affected as she was no longer sure how to continue their supplies for their business. They had a network of suppliers that worked within the Attica Region, but now that they could no longer work within the region, their business was in trouble. Luckily, the sisters were well to do enough to own two large donkeys and a cart to pull all their belongings and supplies to take with them. After paying the fine, both sisters could only take everything they owned and were escorted out of the region by guards. Their future unknown.

Part 2

2nd Struggle: Once they were escorted by the guards off the border of Attica and Boeotia, both Zaniah and Zubene were left on their own. They were no longer in familiar territory. Their lack of knowledge proved fatal to them as only a couple of hours into Boeotia they were stalked by bandits. The two sisters only managed to escape their ambush because they left their cart full of goods and the two rode off on their donkeys to get as far away as fast as possible.

Crisis: It wasn’t until the sisters found a temple and took refuge that they deemed themselves safe. But now that they have lost all their goods they were in an even worse situation for their business. Zubene suggested that they find work at a town for the time being, but Zaniah was reluctant; they didn’t work so hard on their business to only go back to being regular workers. The temple they stumbled upon worshipped Hermes, God of Merchants. That night while Zubene was asleep, Zaniah prayed to Hermes that the God could watch over them and they could get their business back up and running despite what had happened to them.

Climax: Hermes was watching and listening to Zaniah speak about her recent experience with her business and felt bad for her, so he blessed Zaniah with good luck in travel and business. The next day, both sisters set out for the next town and on the way, found a merchant and his cart of goods who lost his horses to bandits. He had been struggling to move his cart so that he could get into town, but without his horses, it was impossible. The two sisters decided to help the man by using their two donkeys to pull the cart. The three people managed to make it into town before sun down and the merchant was so grateful. Discovering that they too were merchants who ran into bad luck, the man repaid the sisters by referring them to his network of suppliers. He was nice enough to help give them the groundworks to restart their business in Boeotia.

Aftermath: Thanks to the merchant, both Zaniah and Zubene were able to slowly rebuild their crop business again. With a new network to work with, Zaniah was once again managing their stock and supplies, making sure that everything on their new stall display was fresh and of high quality. While younger sister, Zubene worked extra hard to bring customers in and making sure that everyone of them were satisfied with their purchase. The lesson they learnt from Athens has stuck with them and had made them better merchants.
